15 Foxtail Circle sits inside the gated Buell Mansion enclave in Cherry Hills Village, a Mediterranean Revival residence from 2006 with six bedrooms, seven baths and 7,306 square feet on a landscaped lot shaded by mature trees. Stucco walls, barrel tile rooflines, a turret-style entry and a private courtyard with a fountain and fireplace give it the feeling of a villa set into the neighborhood.

Arches, iron and light

Lane Lyon brought us in to photograph and film the home in April. A house like this is built on repetition: arches inside and out, iron that curls through the foyer, carved wood in the kitchen. I walked it first with a quiet eye for those rhythms, then built the photographs around them so a buyer could feel the craft as clearly as the floor plan.

The curved wrought-iron staircase is the moment the house is known for, so it got two views: one from the foyer floor to show the sweep, and one straight down the spiral to show the geometry.

Rooms made for gathering

The main level opens around the courtyard. The living room, kitchen and fireplace walls share the same arched language, and the Wolf range and Sub-Zero sit inside cabinetry with hand-carved detail. Every interior was bracketed and blended by hand so the windows hold their view and the warm wood keeps its color.

The film

The film moves the way you would walk the house, from the air down into the courtyard, through the foyer and up the stair. The loop at the top of this page comes from the version with no music and no titles.

Courtyard at dusk

As the light went soft, the courtyard and rear elevation came alive. The loggia lamps and fountain read warm against the stucco, and the barrel tile picked up the last of the sky. From the air, the trees of Cherry Hills Village close in around the home and show how private the setting really is.
