Alpine SuCasa, Steamboat Springs: Short-Term Rental Photography
Alpine SuCasa sits off Shadow Run Frontage in Steamboat Springs, less than a mile from the base of the ski area. It is a two-bedroom, two-bath condo of about 841 square feet that sleeps four, which is exactly the size most families and ski weekends are looking for. The job here was simple to say and harder to do: make a compact mountain condo feel like the start of a good trip.
Small spaces, honest scale
The living room is built around a gas fireplace, and that is where I started. In a condo this size, every lens choice matters. Go too wide and the room stretches into something a guest will not recognize when they open the door. I kept the angles calm and the verticals straight so the space reads at its true size, and let the fireplace and the warm wood carry the mood.
Guests booking a ski rental are scanning for a handful of things: a place to warm up, a kitchen that works, beds that look clean and rested. Bright, even light and a little playful color go further than a lot of props. The orange accents in this unit did half the styling for us.
Selling the place, not just the unit
Short-term rental guests are buying a trip, and the condo is only one part of it. So we went up. The aerial of the shared pool and hot tub answers a question every winter guest asks, and the wider frames of the gondola, the hillsides and downtown put the condo in context with everything they came to Steamboat for.
A free city bus stops nearby, the gondola is a short ride away, and Lincoln Avenue is close enough for dinner without moving the car. Photographs that show that rhythm do more for a booking than another angle of the bedroom.
